How to Make It In America
“An entrepreneur tends to bite off a little more than he can chew hoping he’ll quickly learn how to chew it.” ~ Roy Ash
I'm a motherfuxkin hustler. I've been this way since I was young. As soon as I could work, best believe I did. This country was built on the backs of immigrants coming to america to better themselves. It was built with their sweat, and tears from the hard labor they put in. From housekeepers, to janitors, maids, you name it, they did it, & still do it. They worked long hours, sometimes for little pay, so their families could make a way for themselves. I live in NYC, the city that never sleeps, and rightfully so, we shouldn't. This is the financial capital of the world (London and NY are always in dispute of this) we can't afford to sleep. Money must be made, and those that can't provide for themselves, will find themselves on the cold streets. So we all oblige. We get up at the wee hours of the morning, or go in when everyone else rests their eyes. We do this same routine over & over, never realizing the cycle we'll never be able to get out of.
This cannot be me. I loathe routine, and working for people. Seriously. I've had a job since I was 14 years old. Retail, receptionist, camp counselor, hell, I was even a toll collector. LOL. I currently mix drinks at 739Franklin, am apart of the newly started bartending staffing agency 'Beauty & the Bar' (s/o to all my Bar-Bee Friends tho) , and I book my own gigs as well. (Book me Ariethemixologist@gmail.com) I have the time of my life, and my hours are flexible. I've met a lot of dope people along the way, and still have the freedom to do what ever the eff I want. I've made this hustle work for me, and plan to continue doing just that. I can't go back to the 9 to 5 life, because the vampire life, is one I've grown accustomed to. I'm social, so what I'm doing right now is perfect. Don't get it twisted though, this is no way the destination. This is just a stepping stone, a grind, a way for me to stack, while I get my PR degree, and firm off the ground. I will be my own boss, own my own bar, and make my own tequila. Along with a few other things ;) I'm grinding baby!
I recommend you develop yourself, write up a business plan, and execute. Don't become content with the rat race, or the NOs, along the way. You can own your own business, you just have to work your ass off. We're in a very amazing time, the time of the entrepreneur. A time when people have stopped settling for a 9 to 5, and started making shxt happen for themselves. I'm in love with it, it's inspiring. One of the owners of my bar, is 25 years old, she's my effin idol. She works her ass off, and her hard work is paying off. I believe in that ish, I stand behind that, I respect her more than she knows. Not enough females believe in their ability to have their own. To do for their selves, and she is the epitome of an independent woman.
You'll lose friends, you'll have people shake their heads in disapproval, doors shut 1,000 times, and people telling you, you'll never succeed... Never let the crowd stop you from what you believe in. You're a go getter, and you can and will do it. Believe & never ever stop grinding! Have the heart of a hustla, and the work ethic of all the immigrants that came here and worked their asses off so we could be here. I'll see you at the top! :)
Lots & Lots of love! <333
