Us.

Before there was us, there was me. A naive girl, not sure of her place in the world. Where I wanted to go, and how I'd end up there. I had reached my wits ends, and couldn't take the full spiral my life couldn't seem to get out of. I sat in my room, stacks of papers piled higher than shelves, fighting tears, as I tried to make sense out of all the chaos. I needed to clear my mind, so I walked the same block I always did when I needed to think. I was a creature of habit, so unaware of how my life choices, were becoming my demise.  As I walked with no true destination in mind, down the same street I could reference without looking. Mr. Johnson's green door, that was desperately seeking a new paint job; Mrs. Williams, the widow who's plants died when her spouse did. The huge white fence that wrapped all the way around, trying to keep all the meddling children out of it. This was home. My home, the place that represented comfort, and familiarity. As I continued walking, I saw you. You stood 5'10, with a smile that caught my eye, before anything else. I remember your teeth being white as snow. I had never been so drawn to someone before, so I couldn't place the feelings. You spotted me, as I continued walking, my eyes burning a hole in your back. Our eyes met, you smiled, and my panties weren't prepared for the moisture I produced. You walked over to me, head held high, your walk possessing every ounce of confidence the world could muster. "you're not from around here, are you?" he spoke in a tone, that suggested he knew everyone around these parts of the woods. "what makes you  think that? you're not the mayor are you?" I responded with a smile. I eyed him up and down, trying to take everything in. His mahogany skin, looked smoother than butter. His jaw line, was perfect, and his body looked like he spent hours in the gym. "you're funny, I like that. I just haven't ever seen you around here. I'd remember your face. My name is Luke." He'd remember my face? was he flirting with me? "I'm Trixie. Nice to meet you Luke. and I am from this area. I live a block up. I wish I could stay, but I have to go." I started to walk off, as he grabbed my wrist in an aggressive, but no too controlling way. "Can I see you again?" Here he was, looking down on my 5'2 frame, staring right into my eyes, with that smile.. The smile I had already fallen in love with. I never talked to guys in the street, but my normal routine wasn't working out too well for me anyway. I smiled, grabbed his phone, and entered my number. I walked away, making sure to put every ounce of personality and confidence in my walk. "Call me."

Luke

Driving down the area I once called home, brought back memories I still was not comfortable recalling. The night James was murdered, the case the cops stored as unsolvable, which really translated to we don't give two shits to solve it. Once they killed james, I knew I had to get out of here. It was only a matter of time, before they'd come back to finish the job. The cops didn't care to investigate, because as far as they were concerned, they were better off with one less black kid, running the streets.

ugh I have no time to finish... Have to get ready for work! To be continued :)
